{"id":4294,"date":"2026-08-13T16:15:00","date_gmt":"2026-08-13T15:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mgmetrocup.co.uk\/?p=4294"},"modified":"2026-08-13T15:32:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-13T14:32:25","slug":"from-a-series-to-k-series-the-evolution-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mgmetrocup.co.uk\/index.php\/2026\/08\/13\/from-a-series-to-k-series-the-evolution-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"From A-Series to K-Series \u2013 The Evolution Continues!"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fresh from an extensive rebuild, Robbie Kenning\u2019s MG Metro is set to make its debut with a fresh twist on its iconic livery, featuring a later Rover K-Series engine installation in line with the MG Metro Cup regulations introduced for 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The regulation change was designed with one clear aim: keeping costs down and opening the door for more competitors. Owners of older A-Series cars now have a more affordable route back onto the grid, without the expense of building a front-running A-Series engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Robbie\u2019s car has undergone a complete transformation, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A full front suspension rebuild, along with installation of the K-Series engine into the early A-Series chassis<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A complete rewire to integrate the later ECU and fuel-injection system<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A new fuel system to support the injection setup<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A full respray inside and out, bringing a fresh take on the car\u2019s iconic livery<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After encountering a few early challenges during testing last week, Robbie was back out on Monday, putting in the laps and pushing hard to get the car race-ready for this weekend\u2019s meeting at Brands Hatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There\u2019s still plenty to do, but great progress has been made, and we\u2019re hopeful of seeing this exciting new build line up on the grid later this weekend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For those interested in the numbers, the switch from A-Series to K-Series has added just 5kg to the car, bringing it to around 830kg \u2014 only just above the championship minimum weight of 825kg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This car represents exactly what the regulation change was intended to achieve: keeping costs sensible, breathing new life into older cars and helping to keep more competitors on the grid, while maintaining the close and competitive racing the championship is known for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p
