Fresh from his breakthrough Croft win, his race ended after just three laps, leaving Tim Shooter to take second, with Jon Moore third. Robbie Kenning and Richard Garrard completed the top five after a close battle behind Jack Ashton.

Race two was more of the same at the front, with Jack Ashton controlling proceedings from the start before finishing a full lap ahead of the chasing Metros. Matthew Simpson recovered from his earlier retirement to take second, while Jon Moore again secured third after a close battle with Tim Shooter and Phil Goodwin, finishing just 0.343 seconds ahead of Tim Shooter.

The Brands Hatch meeting formed part of MG Fest, with a well-supported grid walk giving spectators the chance to meet the drivers and get close to the cars before racing began.

Robbie Kenning also made his competitive debut with a freshly rebuilt Metro, featuring a later Rover K-Series engine, rebuilt front suspension, new wiring and ECU integration, plus a full respray and updated livery. Despite some early teething problems, Robbie Kenning brought the car home fourth in race one – a strong reward for months of preparation. The K-Series conversion follows a regulation change introduced for 2025, aimed at making the championship more accessible to owners of older A-Series cars.

Richard Garrard and Phil Goodwin also continued to collect valuable points, while Jonathan McCaughan, Andrew Houston, Paul Deacon and Emma Cross helped maintain the close competition throughout the field.

Jack Ashton now leads the championship on 176 points, with Matthew Simpson second on 132 and Tim Shooter third on 130. Jon Moore sits fourth on 120, while Ben Young and Garrard are level on 94.

Everything now comes down to the final round at Anglesey. Jack Ashton heads into the finale with the momentum firmly on his side, but Mathew Simpson still has a mathematical chance and will need a big result to keep his title hopes alive.

Jack Ashton bounced back in emphatic fashion at Brands Hatch, taking a double victory to put his championship campaign firmly

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false

42,4

post-4657","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-2026-library","category-news
["GET
