Mallory Park Race Report
Under blazing sunshine at Mallory Park, the drivers delivered another action-packed weekend, with championship leader Jack Ashton once again proving untouchable. The Rover Metro 100 racer maintained his flawless start to the 2026 season, storming to victory in both 16-lap contests and setting the fastest lap in each race to preserve his unbeaten record. As if that wasn’t enough, Jack Ashton also established a new MG Metro lap record around the Mallory Park circuit, further underlining his dominance throughout the weekend.
While Jack Ashton disappeared into the distance, the battle for the remaining podium positions provided plenty of entertainment. Tim Shooter emerged as one of the standout performers of the weekend, converting strong pace into a pair of impressive second-place finishes and further strengthening his position among the championship contenders.
With Matthew Simpson absent from the Mallory Park grid, the battle for the remaining podium positions was wide open. Richard Garrard capitalised in race 1, steering his MG Metro Turbo to a well-earned 3rd place finish after keeping guest driver Dan Willars at bay. Dan Willars hit back in race 2, producing an impressive charge through the field to claim the final podium spot, while Jon Moore recovered from an opening-race retirement to secure a strong 4th finish.
The midfield battle was just as fiercely contested throughout the weekend. Series newcomer Andrew Butcher made a positive impression on his championship debut, while Dick Trevett enjoyed another productive outing with strong points-scoring finishes. Benjamin Young and Jonathan McCaughan also battled hard in the packed midfield to secure valuable top-ten results.
Next up is Silverstone National, where Ashton will look to continue his dominant run at the head of the championship. However, the high-speed nature of the circuit could provide the chasing pack with their best opportunity yet to take the fight to the current points leader.
Following the missed trophy presentation at Mallory Park, the championship’s drivers will instead receive their awards at Silverstone National, adding an extra element to what promises to be another exciting weekend of racing.
