Silverstone National Race Report

The championship headed to Silverstone National for another exciting weekend of racing, with the grid once again sharing the circuit with the MG Cockshoot Cup. As part of the agreed race procedure, our competitors lined up with a 10-second delayed start, adding a unique twist to the opening moments of the race and ensuring plenty of anticipation before the action got underway.

Adding further intrigue to the weekend was a guest appearance from Jack’s older brother, Andrew Ashton. His return to the grid certainly shook things up and provided an exciting talking point throughout the paddock, with plenty of drivers keen to see how he would fare against the regular championship contenders.

As always, Silverstone provided close racing and plenty of battles throughout the field. While the competitive action was as intense as ever, the weekend wasn’t without its setbacks. Unfortunately, both Andrew Butcher and Dick Trevett were unable to take their places on the grid for Race 2, reducing the field and bringing an early end to their weekends. We wish them both the best and hope to see them back out on track soon.

Despite those disappointments, there were still plenty of positives to take away from the meeting. Drivers continued to build momentum as the championship battle tightened, with valuable points on offer and every position hard fought around the fast-flowing National circuit.

The day concluded with a double celebration as drivers collected trophies not only from the Silverstone meeting but also from our previous round at Mallory Park. It was a fantastic opportunity to recognise the achievements of the competitors and round off another successful race weekend in style.

With Silverstone now in the books, attention quickly turns to Croft at the beginning of July. The championship battle is heating up, and the big question remains: will Jack continue his impressive run at the top, or can Matt close the gap and take the honours?

One thing is certain – Croft promises another thrilling chapter in what is shaping up to be a fantastic season.
