2025 Season Opener
It’s good to be back and with 2025 comes new changes to the Metro Cup with the addition of new drivers and new cars too…
With cars heading out onto the world renowned Brands Hatch it was Jack Ashton who set a blistering time of 57.560 but close behind where Matthew, Tim, Dick, Mike and Jon. The rest of the field where all tightly packed which meant that we where in for a day of great racing.
As the lights went out for the first race of the year it was once again Jack Ashton who vanished into the sunset claiming the chequered flag however crowd where enjoying Matt and Tim going toe to toe battling it out for second. Mike who was sporting a new car for the weekend came home in an impressive fourth despite getting to grips with a new car. Kyla, Neil, Paul and Carl where all fighting it out to see who would claim seventh concluding our first race.
Just before race 2 sadly the heavens opened which meant two green flag laps due to the change in conditions. As the flag dropped it got quite exciting as the Metro’s tried to battle there way through the heavier VW’s who struggled to get off the line, Jack seemingly pulled off the impossible around the outside at Paddock Hill bend in the wet which ultimately led to yet another victory for his 2025 campaign. Throughout the rest of the field however it was action packed with much faster 4WD cars marching through meant that the Metro’s had their work cut out to manage the traffic and awful conditions which resulted in no red flags which given the conditions, is a credit to all the drivers. Mike, Matt, Richard and Jon all finished spread out due to the conditions to round out the top five finishers.
