Snetterton Rounds 9 & 10 Round up

The final rounds of the Drayton Manor theme park MG Metro Cup were hosted at the Snetterton 300 circuit by the MG Car Club. With the 2019 championship sewn up in style back Jack Ashton there was still some competition for the minor placings. Dick Trevett had an outside chance to claim 2nd overall but was relying on misfortune to befall Dan Willars who just needed to finish 5th in one of the races. It almost went that way with a chaotic start to race 1, due to combined grids with the MG Cup, 38 cars roared into the first corner with a number not making it through. Willars managed to emerge just about unscathed but a number of cars didn’t with one of our metros, Peter Coleman 17, sustaining heavy damage and a forced retirement. On the restart Willars made a hesitant start and dropped a few places, however, gradually picking up a few places he got into the required 5th position to secure 2nd overall. Trevett scored fastest lap but couldn’t quite catch Ashton who secured his clean sweep winning both races.

A few other minor places to sort out with with Trevett now secure in 3rd, Mark Wilson just squeezed out by Richard Garrad who claimed 4th with Wilson one point behind in 5th. Full Snetterton race report available soon. Attention now moves to our annual AGM and awards dinner and dance. Please see the calendar page for dates and upcoming events.

Thanks to all competitors, support staff, marshalls and sponsors and partners for a great 2019. See you on the grid in 2020. Keep checking back for more news until then.
